Union County Court Docket Searches
No single free screen covers every Union County court docket. The search you run depends on which court holds the case. Circuit and chancery matters sit on Mississippi Electronic Courts, known as MEC. The public views them remotely through Public Access to MEC, or PAMEC. Justice Court keeps its own clerk and its own way to pay a citation. New Albany, Sherman, Myrtle, and Blue Springs each run municipal court or city-clerk channels for city matters. A deed or lien lives in the Chancery Clerk's land index. It does not belong in a Union County lawsuit docket.
Let the subject of the case point you to the right office. Felony charges, circuit civil matters, lower-court appeals, and administrative appeals belong with the Union County Circuit Clerk. Divorce, custody, probate, guardianship, trust, equity, and land litigation belong with the Union County Chancery Clerk. A small claim, a preliminary matter, or a county citation is usually a Justice Court record. City ordinance and municipal traffic questions start with the issuing city.
Before you call, gather a few facts. Know the court name, the approximate year, the case number if you have it, and the kind of document you need. That short list lets the Union County clerk tell quickly whether you want a docket sheet, a document, a certified copy, or a record held by another office. It saves time for both of you.
- Identify whether the Union County matter is circuit, chancery, justice, municipal, land-record, or federal.
- For circuit or chancery matters, open the correct MEC court route and use PAMEC if remote public access is needed.
- For a city or Justice Court matter, contact the issuing court before treating a payment screen as a docket search.
- Read the latest Union County entries, not just the first date or a payment receipt.
- Confirm a setting, restriction, or copy request with the clerk who keeps the original file.
Once you know which court holds the case, the fuller Union County docket search reference walks through name and number searches across the county systems.
Union County MEC Docket Access
Both Union County courts run on MEC. The Circuit Court sits in the Third Circuit District. The Chancery Court sits in the First Chancery District. Their login pages are gates, not case-search screens for casual visitors. To view a Union County docket remotely, you typically set up a PAMEC account. You pick the non-attorney category if that fits, accept the terms, and pay the yearly registration charge. Only then can you search the docket inside an active account.
What does registration cost? The PAMEC terms for non-attorney users list a $10 annual fee and quarterly billing. They also list per-page charges of $0.20 for pages that come back from a search. One caution deserves mention: even a search with no matches can still generate a billed page. The terms also restrict use to official court business.
Remote access has limits, so the Union County clerk counter still matters. Under MEC procedures, you can view system-filed civil and criminal court records electronically at the clerk's office for free during regular hours. Local procedures and copying charges apply. When a document is blocked, ask the Union County clerk about public inspection or a redacted copy. If your account returns nothing, request a legacy index or a certified copy of the court record you need.
Court Dockets: What They Show
A Union County docket is the chronological index of a case. It ties a case number to the court, case type, filing date, judge, parties and attorneys, filings, orders, hearings, status, and disposition. One caution: the docket line is not always the document itself. A motion shown as filed may still need a document request, a permitted MEC view, a fee, or redaction. Only then can you read the full text.
Read the latest entry with care, because labels mean different things. A filing is just a document placed into the record. An order is a direction from the court. A judgment is a final or otherwise dispositive ruling. A disposition is a reported outcome or status. It may not substitute for the signed judgment. Union County cases can also carry an appeal relationship. A lower-court result and its Circuit Court appeal may appear as separate dockets.
| Case number | The court-assigned identifier used to locate the Union County file. |
|---|---|
| Filing date | When the case or document entered the court record. |
| Docket entry | A dated line for a filing, notice, hearing, order, or other event. |
| Setting | A scheduled court event that can later be reset, continued, or removed. |
| Status flag | A system label that needs confirmation from the docket entries and clerk. |
| Disposition | The recorded outcome or case status, checked against the controlling order when needed. |
Union County Docket Flags Need Context
The Third Circuit MEC Court Information page publishes a detailed status vocabulary for Union County cases. Examples include CLOSED, Trial Pending, Plea Pending, Bench Warrant Issued, Nolle Pros Pending, Justice Court Appeal, and Municipal Court Appeal. The First Chancery vocabulary adds GAL, Minor_Child, TRUST, ACCOUNTING WAIVED, and SEALED.
These labels frame a precise question about a Union County case. They do not tell the whole story alone. A pending label is not a final result. A payment receipt is not a disposition. An appeal flag does not erase the lower-court record. Read the associated entry and order, or ask the Union County clerk what public material can be inspected.
- SEALED / Sealed_Case
- An access restriction that can suppress a record or document image.
- EXPUNGED
- An expungement-related status that should not be used to infer underlying facts.
- MOTREF
- A motion-referred label that signals a procedural referral, not necessarily a ruling.
- R&R
- A report and recommendation marker that requires the docket and order for context.
Union County Courts and Their Dockets
The Union County court map has layers. Mississippi runs circuit, chancery, justice, municipal, appellate, and federal courts. Yet no separate Union County Court appears in the 2026 statewide directory. Original jurisdiction decides which Union County docket fits. A case can move from a municipal or Justice Court record into Circuit Court on appeal. Sorting the record means calling the court and clerk, not running a general web search.
Two traps are worth naming. Circuit and chancery are distinct courts even though they share the county. And DuProcess, a useful Union County Chancery Clerk service for recorded instruments, is an instrument index rather than a general civil or family-case docket. It is not a substitute for the case docket.
| Court | Docket covers | Where to search or ask |
|---|---|---|
| Union County Circuit Court | General civil and criminal matters, plus lower-court and administrative appeals. | Third Circuit MEC/PAMEC or Circuit Clerk Donna Treadaway. |
| Union County Chancery Court | Domestic, probate, guardianship, trust, equity, and land litigation. | First Chancery MEC/PAMEC or Chancery Clerk Annette M. Hickey. |
| Union County Justice Court | Lower-court civil, misdemeanor, preliminary, and citation matters. | Justice Court Clerk Mary Katherine Hale and the county citation channel. |
| Municipal courts | City ordinance and municipal traffic cases. | The issuing city clerk or court in New Albany, Sherman, Myrtle, or Blue Springs. |
Union County Land Records Are Separate
Deeds, liens, plats, and easements live in a different system from court dockets. The Union County Official Records Online search indexes recorded instruments. It does that job well. You can query names, instrument and book data, legal descriptions, parcels, addresses, dates, and subdivision details. A result may show the instrument number, type, file date, pages, document status, parcel information, parties, and images.
None of that proves a lawsuit is pending in Union County Chancery Court. The portal itself warns that its online information is informational. The courthouse record controls. Try spelling variations first. Then ask the Chancery Clerk for a certified instrument or the separate court file when your task needs one.
Two cautions apply. A rich index can still carry omissions or indexing errors. And the 2.95% card service fee, with a $2.50 minimum, is a portal charge on top of any purchase. It is not a countywide court-copy fee.
Court Dates and Settings in Union County
Union County term calendars and case settings answer two different questions. The 2026 Circuit Court terms run March 10 for three weeks, June 2 for three weeks, September 2 for eleven days, and November 3 for two weeks. The 2026 Chancery terms fall on the second Monday of February, the fourth Monday of June, and the third Monday of October. Each one lasts four days. Those published windows tell you when a court is sitting in term.
A specific case date is another matter. It must come from the case docket, a signed order, a notice, a current clerk calendar, or direct confirmation from the clerk. An authenticated MEC view shows notices and entries. But the public login offers no anonymous calendar search. Justice Court's Point & Pay screen handles payments, not hearings. Municipal calendar details sit with the city clerk or court staff.
Check the latest entry before you travel and again close to the setting. A continuance, reset, cancellation, special setting, or filed order can shift an event inside a published Union County term. The Union County court schedule page splits term dates from case settings. It lists the local confirmation routes.
Union County Terms Do Not Set Every Hearing
The official 2026 Judiciary Directory and Court Calendar is the strongest published starting point for Union County terms, court structure, and directory updates. It is not a notice to appear. The Third Circuit District Attorney calendar can serve as a Union Term cross-check, yet it also cannot replace the clerk's current case information.
The Secretary of State's 2026 judiciary directory landing page is the source for this court-calendar reference.

When you call, have the Union County case number, the court, the judge if known, the next event shown, and the date you checked the information. Ask whether the event is in person, remote, in chambers, a special term, or at a current location. The historic courthouse address and current clerk locations are not interchangeable.
Docket Access Under Mississippi Law
Union County court records are generally open. A statute, court rule, order, or privacy restriction can say otherwise. The Mississippi Public Records Act covers records held by county public bodies. Court files also follow the Mississippi Judiciary Public Records Policy and MEC administrative procedures. A written Union County request should name the court, case number, document, date range, format, and whether a certified copy is needed.
Open access does not mean every image is available remotely. Sealed, expunged, juvenile, adoption, medical, mental-health, minor-child, financial-account, protected-address, and attorney-of-record material can all be limited. If the clerk refuses an item, ask which restriction applies. Ask whether a docket-only or redacted copy exists. Also get the specific authority behind a written denial.
Key Rules:
Miss. Code ยงยง25-61-1, 25-61-5, and 25-61-7 - These Public Records Act provisions address public access, written-request timing, and reasonable actual-cost fees for covered public bodies.
Mississippi Judiciary Public Records Policy - Court-record access is governed by the judiciary's policy and is not simply an executive-agency records request.
MEC/PAMEC non-attorney terms - Remote docket and document viewing is subject to account, billing, permission, and privacy limits.
Union County Clerk Access Routes
Paid remote access is only one Union County route. For a circuit or chancery file, the clerk counter remains the practical fallback. It covers inspection, copies, a legacy-paper check, or a certified record. PAMEC may display docket sheets and electronic documents in nonrestricted cases, but the local custodian decides what can be copied, certified, redacted, or retrieved. The Justice Court clerk does the same. Municipal clerks play that role for their own separate records.
The official Union County government gateway provides the county-seat context for the local court offices.

Always ask before sending a request by mail, fax, email, or drop-off. The official directory supplies fax lines and mailing addresses. But Union County does not publish a firm electronic-copy policy, a same-day certification promise, or an exact circuit and chancery copy schedule. Get the current fee quote and accepted delivery method straight from the local office.
Note: A remote PAMEC result, land-index image, or vendor receipt may help you identify a record. None of them automatically replaces the clerk-held certified copy.
How the Clerk Keeps Docket Records
Three elected clerks split the record-keeping work in Union County. Donna Treadaway serves as Union County Circuit Clerk. Circuit criminal and civil filings, judgments, jury material, and lower-court appeals live there. Annette M. Hickey holds the Union County Chancery Clerk post, handling chancery pleadings and orders for domestic, probate, guardianship, equity, land, and similar matters. Justice Court records sit with a separate Justice Court Clerk, Mary Katherine Hale.
Name the court and the product before you ask. A circuit docket sheet, a filed order, a certified judgment, a transcript request, a chancery petition, a justice citation disposition, and a recorded deed are all different items. Each has its own custodian. A deed, deed of trust, or plat listed in the land index does not by itself create a state-court docket entry. Ask the clerk where the record sits. It may be in MEC, a legacy index, an archive, or another court entirely.

Union County Dockets Changed in 2022
Union County Circuit Court and Union County Chancery Court share the same MEC go-live date. It is September 26, 2022. That single date splits the Union County record system in two. Filings, notices, and docket sheets from that point forward sit inside MEC. Older case records may live in a clerk index, a paper file, a permanent docket book, an archive, or a scan you have to request.
The state retention chart treats docket books, minute books, abstracts of judgment, and judgment rolls as permanent. Other case files get approval-based periods. So "not online" never means "not retained." If a Union County case predates the switch or simply never shows up in a remote docket search, ask the clerk whether it is a legacy file, an archived item, a paper record, or a record held by another court.
MARIS judicial redistricting resources provide state-level court-structure context for Union County.

City-by-City Court Dockets in Union County
Four incorporated places make up Union County: New Albany, Sherman, Myrtle, and Blue Springs. Each municipal court keeps its own ordinance and traffic records. New Albany offers a city-linked nCourt payment route. Sherman posts a Court Fines Payment link. Blue Springs and Myrtle offer no separate public municipal docket search. A payment link is not a full docket. It is not a certified disposition either. For a municipal citation, start with the issuing city. A Union County Justice Court citation belongs with the Justice Court Clerk instead. Use the county citation route for that one. A municipal appeal can later open a separate Circuit Court record. Sherman deserves extra care. The town spans Lee, Pontotoc, and Union Counties. A Sherman address alone does not settle venue.
New Albany Court Records
2020 place figure: 7,626. County-seat municipal route with a city-linked payment vendor and no anonymous city docket search located.
Sherman Court Records
2020 place figure: 600. Multi-county town with a City Hall clerk route and a visible Court Fines Payment link.
Myrtle Court Records
2020 place figure: 484. Direct city-clerk contact is the documented municipal fallback because no portal was located.
Blue Springs Court Records
2020 place figure: 436. City Hall is the municipal contact; the town payment entry was not verified as a court portal.
Union County Court Sources Can Change
A printed directory ages fast in Union County. Addresses, judges, terms, portal rules, and fees can all shift after publication, and the Secretary of State's current directory materials say as much. A 2026 election notice adds one more reason to confirm current official contacts rather than trust an older municipal profile or a copied court calendar.
The 2026 Secretary of State judicial-election notice documents the current directory and election cycle.

Union County's system works best when each request starts with the court that owns the case. Confirm the record path before typing personal details into a payment vendor. Keep sealed, juvenile, expunged, financial, and protected information out of any public request or discussion.
Map and Directions to the Union County Circuit Clerk's Office
Union County Circuit Court records are kept at the Circuit Clerk's office, 114 E. Bankhead Street in New Albany. Chancery Court files are kept nearby at 109 E. Main Street, and the historic 1909 Union County Courthouse at 110 Bankhead Street East is a separate, non-operational building; the three addresses should not be swapped for one another. Justice Court's public counter address was not confirmed in official sources, so calling 662-534-1951 first is the safer route for a citation or small-claims matter.
