Union County Docket Search

Start your Union County docket search at the office that actually holds the file: the Union County Circuit Clerk, the Chancery Clerk, Justice Court, or the municipal court that issued the ticket. What you can look up depends on the court and the identifier you bring. Some Union County case records sit behind the state's authorized court system, while others require a call or visit to the local clerk. A case number works best. A name and a filing date can help too. Match the matter to the right court first, and the docket will either answer your question or point you to the clerk who can.

Name-Based Case Searches

Every Union County name search starts with one sorting question: which court? Felonies, indictments, circuit civil cases, appeals, and administrative appeals run through the Union County Circuit Clerk. Those cases are filed in Third Circuit MEC. Divorce, custody, estates, guardianship, equity, land disputes, and trusts belong to the Union County Chancery Clerk. That office files through First Chancery MEC. Justice Court handles its own channel for small claims, misdemeanors, citations, and preliminary matters. City ordinance and city traffic cases stay with the municipal court that issued them. Search the court that matches the case type, and the docket entries will make sense.

  1. Identify the Union County court that likely holds the case. Do not start with the land index or a payment screen unless the record type calls for it.
  2. Open the Third Circuit MEC login for circuit matters or the First Chancery MEC login for chancery matters. The public entry screens do not expose an anonymous name-search form.
  3. If no authorized public credentials exist, follow PAMEC registration and select the Non-Attorney user type for ordinary civic research. Do not select a filer role without authorization.
  4. After the account is active, use the authenticated fields available for the chosen court. The research confirms support for party name, case number, and filing-date searches, but did not expose the live labels or filter controls.
  5. Open only results within the displayed permission level and read the latest docket entry before treating a case status as current.

One caveat applies to the Union County search fields. An anonymous MEC session shows account-entry fields rather than a public case-query screen. Any field list here covers only what the court system displays to the public, and unverified labels are marked as such instead of guessed at.

Union County Case MEC Access

Mississippi Electronic Courts is the state layer for Union County Circuit Court and Union County Chancery Court. Both court pages list a September 26, 2022 MEC go-live date. Remote public access runs through PAMEC, not a free anonymous one-screen search. The login page separates MEC filers from PAMEC viewers. It warns that the system is restricted to official court business. PAMEC registration starts with a required user type. Then come personal account details: first name, last name, gender, date of birth, primary email, email confirmation, preferred username, password, and password confirmation. Middle name, suffix, and phone are optional. Passwords need at least eight characters, capped at 32. They must include a special character, a letter, and a number. Annual registration for non-attorneys costs $10. Online debit, credit-card, or electronic-check payment is the quickest route. A third-party processing fee may apply, though. A mailed check delays access until it arrives and clears. The PAMEC non-attorney terms add a $0.20 charge per search-result page. A no-match search still counts as one page, billed quarterly. These are access conditions for a Union County case search, not evidence of any case outcome. Note: An active PAMEC account can still carry permission limits. A Union County case document or notice may sit behind them.

Case Number Searches

A case number is the most direct identifier for a Union County docket search. Hand it to the correct clerk or type it into an authenticated MEC search. MEC does support case-number searches once access is active. Copy the punctuation and prefix exactly as they appear. Use the notice, the docket, or the clerk communication as your source. What it does not publish is a standard Union County case-number format. No prefix code, sequence rule, or yearly reset pattern appears there either. Never build a code from a court abbreviation plus a year. A number that looks close can still mislead. It may belong to a different court, a legacy record, a municipal matter, or an appeal. If the number returns nothing, check the court name. Then ask the Union County clerk whether the file is older, restricted, or held elsewhere.

Union County Case Number Limits

No local Union County case-number specimen appears in any public source here. The practical rule stands on its own: give the court the identifier exactly as written, punctuation and prefix included. Treat anything beyond that as guesswork, not a real Union County coding system.

Use the original identifier. A case number can locate a docket, but it does not establish the court, status, or document access by itself.

When a Union County number is incomplete, combine the known court, approximate filing date, and party information with a clerk request or authenticated MEC search.

For Justice Court citations, the public Point & Pay page shows only the Citation payment selection before the screen refreshes. Its citation-number, name, and date fields are not exposed to the public. A payment confirmation is not a Union County court docket and not a full case search.

Union County Case Search Preparation

Get your facts in order before you call or visit. Note the court first. Write the case number exactly as it appears. Add any party name and the rough filing or hearing date. Say what record you want. That brief list does the work. A clerk can then tell a circuit file from a chancery file, a Justice Court citation, a municipal matter, or a land instrument in seconds.

For circuit cases, the Union County Circuit Clerk is Donna Treadaway. Her counter sits at 114 E. Bankhead Street in New Albany. The phone is 662-534-1910. Chancery matters go to Chancery Clerk Annette M. Hickey at 109 E. Main Street, phone 662-534-1900. Remote PAMEC access can fail you or come up thin. The counter or the phone is then the dependable route for a Union County case search.

Justice Court keeps its own clerk, Mary Katherine Hale, at 662-534-1951. Municipal tickets go back to the city clerk or court that issued them. New Albany, Blue Springs, Myrtle, and Sherman each run a municipal court. No single Union County portal covers them all. One caution: a municipal citation will not appear in Third Circuit MEC. An appeal must move it there first.

Case Search Results Explained

Think of a docket as a timeline of one case. It ties a case number to the court, the case type, the filing date, and the parties. Beyond that come the attorneys, judge, status flags, filings, orders, hearings, and disposition. One catch matters here. An entry on the docket is not the same as the full paperwork behind it. A line may note that a motion was filed. Or it may record an order entered. Either way, seeing more may still call for a document click, a PAMEC charge, a clerk copy request, redaction, or attorney-of-record permission.

Case numberThe court-assigned identifier used to locate the Union County file. Retain its exact punctuation and prefix.
Court and case typeShows which court owns the matter and whether the search is in the correct record system.
Filed date and partiesCase-information fields that can help distinguish similarly named records when access permits.
Status flagsSystem vocabulary such as CLOSED, SEALED, Trial Pending, or an appeal flag. A flag requires context from entries and orders.
Docket eventsChronological filings, notices, hearings, and orders. The actual document can be restricted or available only by a separate route.
Disposition or judgmentThe recorded outcome or status, which should be read with the signed order or clerk-certified record when needed.

Exact layouts vary. Result cards, pagination, document tabs, and redaction can all behave differently for an authorized Union County MEC account. What is listed here is the docket information itself, not a promise that every field appears in every result.

Union County Case Detail Limits

A Union County case result can show less than the full case file holds. Under MEC terms, non-attorney users may view docket sheets. Notices and electronic documents in non-restricted cases are viewable too. Still, access turns on the court and the user's permission level. An NEF document, for one, may demand an MEC filer login. A message may say the viewer lacks permission. That can simply mean the document is limited to attorneys of record. The case may exist all the same.

Ask the clerk which access category fits your need. A public docket inspection, a redacted document, a plain copy, and a certified copy are distinct products. Name the court when you make a Union County record request. Include the case number, the document or entry, the date range, the format you want, and whether certification is required. And never read an invoice, a payment receipt, or a missing image as the final word. None of them settles a case.

Union County Court Case Information

Pay for remote access only after checking the court-specific MEC CourtInfo page. It gives the court location and operating information. The page also lists the MEC go-live date and the published flag vocabulary. Union County Circuit Court uses the Third Circuit CourtInfo page. Union County Chancery Court uses the First Chancery CourtInfo page.

Neither page hands you an anonymous Union County case result. They do help you pick the right court and decode the system's status language. Circuit Court flags include CLOSED, EXPUNGED, and SEALED. Trial Pending and Plea Pending also appear. Pretrial Interv Pending, Bench Warrant Issued, Justice Court Appeal, and Municipal Court Appeal finish that list. Chancery flags include CLOSED, SEALED, GAL, and Minor_Child. TRUST and ACCOUNTING WAIVED are also listed. INVENTORY WAIVED, MEDIATION, R&R, and Trial Pending complete the set.

Note: CourtInfo describes the Union County court system. A current case status still requires an authorized case view or clerk confirmation.

Two Ways to Search: County and State

Union County splits its docket search into a county route and a state route. The county route runs through the local clerk. That office handles public inspection and copies, plus older paper files for circuit and chancery dockets. The state route is MEC/PAMEC. That system is the case-management layer for state courts, and it demands registration and payment before the public can reach a case docket remotely.

One free, anonymous, statewide one-screen search does not exist here. A third system, Union Official Records Online, covers recorded land instruments. It is useful. It is not the state-court docket.

RouteCoverage and accessBest use
MEC/PAMECParticipating Mississippi courts, including Union circuit and chancery after authorized registrationRemote docket sheets, notices, and permitted documents for the selected court
Union County clerkCircuit, chancery, or justice clerk with the court's local file and public-inspection routeConfirm a result, inspect an older file, or request a copy
Union Official Records OnlineRecorded instruments searchable by party, book and page, parcel, legal description, and related fieldsDeeds, liens, plats, and other land instruments, not court docket entries

Once a Union County case number turns up, the docket only tells part of the story. For the full file or a certified copy, use the county's Court Case Records route to sort out those distinctions.

Union County Case and Land Index

DuProcess is the richest public search Union County offers. No other tool a visitor meets has more search fields. It is a land-record index, though, not a lawsuit docket. Party criteria come first, with full names entered in lastname, firstname form. A docket-style search can then narrow by date ranges, instrument year and number, book and page, and instrument type. Legal description, parcel data, subdivision fields, and address-related criteria narrow it further. Results may show the instrument, its type, file date, page count, and status. They may also show the parcel identifier, description, workflow, and document-image options.

The Union Official Records Online search interface is the right tool for a deed, deed of trust, plat, easement, lien, or any other recorded instrument. It cannot rule out a circuit lawsuit. It cannot rule out a chancery case either. A boundary dispute often leaves a land instrument in one system and a separate chancery case in another. Each leaves its own record trail.

The fields on the Union County search form were built for property records, so treat them as a land tool rather than a court-docket lookup. A different entry point reaches the same public application. The alternate Union land-search route opens a field-rich interface for documents and parcels.

Before treating a Union County land-index result as a court record, match it against the court system that actually holds the file. The index tracks property instruments, not the case docket.

Which Cases Stay Restricted

Mississippi court files are open by default. A statute, court rule, order, or privacy restriction can change that. The Mississippi Judiciary Public Records Policy and MEC procedures govern court files. The Mississippi Public Records Act can govern county administrative records held by the correct public body. Put any written request in specific terms. Name the court, case number, document, date range, and format you want, and ask for a fee estimate and any needed redaction.

Some categories stay restricted. Sealed and expunged material, juvenile or youth-court records, and adoption records all qualify. So do medical or mental-health material and minor-child and protected domestic-relations information. Social Security or taxpayer identifiers, financial-account data, dates of birth, and home addresses qualify as well. Documents limited to attorneys of record round out the list. A docket may show a case or a redacted event. The image itself stays blocked.

Never use a records request to push past a sealed case. The same rule covers juvenile confidentiality. It also covers an attorney-of-record restriction. If a Union County request is denied, get the denial and its specific authority in writing, then ask whether docket-only inspection or a redacted copy is available.

Union County Case Permission Errors

A Union County case can be missing from an anonymous search for several reasons. The search may open only after PAMEC authentication. The matter may sit in a different court, the file may be legacy paper, or the record may be restricted. That absence does not prove no case ever existed. A permission error can likewise mean a document needs an attorney-of-record login. It does not mean the docket itself is unavailable.

When a result is sealed, incomplete, or blocked, ask the Union County clerk two questions. What category of access exists? What authority controls the restriction? Ask whether a redacted document, docket-only inspection, or another public record can be provided. Do not seek protected identifiers or ask a clerk to remove a restriction.

Union County Legacy Case Checks

An older Union County file may never have been migrated to MEC. That is another reason a case search comes up empty. The state's retention materials describe permanent docket and minute books. They also cover judgment rolls. The materials list approval-based periods for some case files. Justice and municipal traffic records fall under separate retention categories. So an older record may sit in a clerk archive, a permanent book, a scanned MEC record, or an MDAH-controlled item rather than a web result.

Give the clerk the court, the approximate date, known parties, a case number if you have one, and the document you want. That lets the office check a legacy index or archive. The staff need not guess at a file's status. The Union County Chancery land portal can supply recorded-instrument history. But it stays separate from a legacy circuit or chancery case docket. The Union Official Records Online landing page also explains its land-record context and online-copy terms.

Union County case search image of the Official Records Online land portal disclaimer

The portal's disclaimer draws the same line: indexed land records are one thing, and the Union County court file held by the proper clerk is another.
